I was in the market for some Miata parts and a local junk yard indicated they had received a 91 Miata on February 25th. That seemed pretty recent, so I assumed most of the car would still be there. Best of all, they are having a half price sale this weekend, so I decided to check it out.
The car was already pretty well worked over, as you can see above, and I wasn't able to get the main parts I wanted, but I didn't walk away empty handed.
I picked up (from left to right below) a manual window mechanism, brake pedal with clevis, shifter, and bumper support.
Most of the parts are for potential future projects and/or experimentation, but the bumper brace was ready for action. The driver side bumper doesn't have a support rod like the passenger side because that's where the
windshield washer reservoir used to sit. With that gone, there was a bit more flexibility in the bumper than I wanted. The undertray helped somewhat, but I wanted the brace to match the other side.

With some stainless steel hardware I had gotten specifically for this project, my junkyard brace bolted right in.

While I was at it, I wanted to replace the hardware on the other side with a longer stainless steel bolt. I also decided to improve the alignment of the splitter.

I previously used existing holes to bolt everything together, but the poor alignment was starting to bug me. I just had to drill one little hole in the splitter to line it up properly.

This was a quick and satisfying project. My favorite kind.
